We're Tired, but making great progress on the farm!

We founded the Bee Tree Folk School in October of 2017. Since that time we have spent thousands of hours renovating two derelict historical buildings in downtown Weiser, hosting and teaching classes, hosting concerts, providing affordable space for other community events, and developing a community recording studio.

Over the past couple of years a number of folks have asked us if we live at the castle or the Bee Hive. They've seen our little red Prius with the BEETREE license plate parked in front of one building or the other for many hours a day, six or seven days a week.
While we consider the folk school to be a God-led endeavor and we are blessed with the time and energy to make classes and events available to our community, we have made an important discovery...

The things we love to do around the farm have taken second place to the folk school!

So, unless there is a class or event going on, our office hours are going to be...
  • Wednesday: 12pm to 5pm

  • Thursday: 12pm to 5pm

  • Friday: 12pm to 5pm

  • Saturday: 12pm to 5pm

This gives us some time to maintain our farm and here's what we've accomplished in the past three weeks.
We have:
  • Brooded 50 meat birds and 25 hens.
  • Repurposed a small building and created a run for the meat birds.
  • Repaired our old John Deere tractor and run the disc on one of the upper pastures. (the second will be next.)
  • Created a raised-bed garden area for herbs.
  • Rototilled two garden areas above the house and planted:
25 tomato plants (so far, Sandy LOVES tomato plants!)
10 grape vines, with more to come..
    Apricot Tree
36 cabbage plants (Dennis LOVES his sauerkraut)
Prepared an area for 4 apple trees (to be planted right away)

Still to come:

  • Move and re-plant the strawberry beds.
  • Prepare an area and plant thornless blackberries
  • Finish planting the garden after the second upper pasture garden area is tilled.
  • Repurpose an old Aristocrat travel trailer as permanent home for our hens.
  • And MORE!
